Description
Detailed description
Herrenwyk was a typical working-class district until the 1990s. The district was dominated by the blast furnace plant and the Flender shipyard in the neighboring district of Siems. A unique museum has been created on the edge of the former works housing estate - in the former blast furnace works department store. The permanent exhibitions show the history of the two works and the people who lived and worked there.
The fate of tens of thousands of forced laborers and prisoners of war who had to work and live under terrible conditions in Lübeck's industry during the Second World War is also addressed.
Special exhibitions on economic, social and contemporary historical topics are also shown on a regular basis.
The museum's digital offering complements the presence exhibitions.
