Energy boost

Solar charging station for e-bikes

Sustainably on the move with solar-powered electricity

In Lübeck, you can now charge your e-bike, e-scooter, or electric wheelchair free of charge and in an eco-friendly manner at the new solar charging station, conveniently located in front of the Tourist Information terrace at Holstentorplatz. The station is equipped with six lockers for charging mobile devices and batteries. The electricity is generated by a photovoltaic module on the roof, allowing you to charge independently of opening hours. Six bike racks offer secure parking during the charging process. While your bike gets the energy boost it needs, you can savour a pastry at Schneckenhaus Café, complete with a stunning view of the Holsten Gate!

Here's how it works

Open the locker by using the handle and sliding the door fully upwards. Inside, you’ll find a 230V socket, along with USB-A and USB-C ports. Using your own charger, you can power your phone, battery, bike, scooter, or wheelchair. To start charging, simply press the button, and the process will run for 120 minutes. After this time, charging will automatically stop. Close the door and turn the locking lever on the combination lock fully to the left to secure it. Choose a 4-digit code and enter it using the keypad to lock the door. Be sure to remember your code, as you’ll need it to reopen the locker!

To open the locker, enter your code on the keypad and turn the locking lever fully to the right. You can then open the door.

Please note

  • The button will blink green when the charging process is active. If it blinks red, there isn’t enough energy available for charging at the moment.
  • To prevent long-term use of the locker, the lock will automatically open after two hours. Please ensure you remove your device before the two hours expire.
  • We do not assume liability for theft, loss, or damage.
  • If you have any questions or forget your code, please contact the staff at the Tourist Information.
