Hotel Die Reederin

Lübeck

Historic ambience and sustainability

Situated in the heart of the city, Hotel Die Reederin not only breathes history, but also emphasises sustainability. The former headquarters of the F.H. Bertling shipping company, which was based here for more than 150 years, is steeped in maritime tradition.

Each of the hotel's seven rooms bears the name of a ship that once proudly sailed for the company. Personal service is paramount here, with hotel manager Nina Dietze running the hotel with dedication and attention to detail.

The day starts with a sustainable breakfast at the table, which means less waste and consists of four delicious options. The hotel team do most of their shopping by cargo bike and source cheese and eggs from local farms to help the environment.

Furnishings are also designed with the environment in mind: Old wardrobe doors are reused as headboards and much of the furniture is sourced from antique shops.
