CLIMATE-FRIENDLY MOBILITY: PURCHASE OF COMPANY BICYLES
EUROPEAN HANSEMUSEUM
In times of climate change and traffic jams, it is more important than ever to use alternative means of transport. The European Hansemuseum has faced up to this challenge and purchased an office bicycle that can be used by all employees. Not only does this improve everyone’s mobility, it also contributes to reducing emissions. The bicycle is used for shopping, distributing flyers and meetings as a very environmentally-friendly alternative to the car. In doing so, the museum is trying to set a good example and show that even small steps can have a major effect on the environment.
The European Hansemuseum is known as the leading museum in the world on the history of the Hanseatic League. It was the first German museum to join the “Museums for Future” network to put greater emphasis on sustainability in museums. Director Felicia Sternfeld stresses the responsibility of public institutions to play an active role in social solutions.
