Initiative "ProTomorrow"

Maritim Strandhotel Travemünde

As part of the Maritim Hotels, the Maritim Strandhotel Travemünde participates in the sustainability initiative "ProTomorrow", which offers guests an active way og getting involved. They can choose not to have their rooms cleaned on a daily basis during multiple-day- stays. At the Maritim Strandhotel, the guests' contribution supports the protection of the tern colony in the Pötenitzer Wiek. In 2009, the Landschaftspflegeverein Dummersdorfer Ufer e.V. (LPV) heaped up an artificial gravel island on the rubble of an old landing bridge, which was occupied by a dozen terns immediately in the following spring and is now home to the largest tern colony on the German Baltic coast. The LPV monitors the colony and can take protective measures, if necessary. The funds released at the Maritim Strandhotel will enable necessary repairs and new acquisitions to protect nature in the region.

The Maritim Strandhotel Travemünde is one of the large hotels in Travemünde which also joined the "Sustainable Destination" Travemünde initiative at an early stage. As one of the leading German hotel companies, Maritim Hotelgesellschaft mbH demands socially and ethically responsible behaviour from itself in every respect. Respect for human rights, fair working conditions and environmentally friendly business practices are to be ensured. This commitment to environmental protection and the "Code of Conduct" (guidelines for suppliers & business partners) have been in place since the early 2000s and apply to all hotels. With the participation of the Maritim Strandhotel Travemünde in the local initiative, the general commitment is thus intensified and expanded. The Maritim Hotel Travemünde is located directly on the beach and at the extensive promenade with probably the best view of the Bay of Lübeck and the busy shipping traffic at the mouth of the Trave. A warm atmosphere and an uncomplicated holiday at the Baltic Sea can be experienced here.
