SELF-MADE INSECT HOTELS
Travemünde High Ropes Course
In the high ropes course, insect hotels have been built from wood left over from the construction process and attached to the wooden fences – with the fantastic support of a young guest. The project offers insects protective spaces, breeding grounds and feeding areas. At the same time, guests are made aware of the importance of insects. The intention is also to inspire other people to provide similar facilities in their own gardens or businesses for plants and animals. Ropes course guests find themselves surrounded by nature. This offers a great opportunity to make children, in particular, aware of environmental and species protection and bring the importance of these small creatures home to them.
The ropes course in Travemünde is a high course with a base jump and ropeway. Over a distance of 450 metres and a total of 5 courses, thrilling courses await climbing fans of all ages (from the age of two onwards). It’s particularly worth noting that the Travemünde High Ropes Course only uses older, slowly regenerating, healthy trees in order to protect tree stocks. No core trees are felled and no interventions made in the undergrowth. Operation of the high ropes course is largely climate neutral. We see this as a great opportunity to make children, in particular, aware of environmental and species protection and bring the importance of these small creatures home to them.
