The fair trade city
LÜBECK UND TRAVEMÜNDE MARKETING (LTM)
Lübeck was the first city in Schleswig-Holstein to receive the award of a “Fair Trade City” from the umbrella organisation TransFair e.V. As a “Fair Trade City”, it meets five criteria that reflect its commitment to fair trade on all levels of the municipality. This includes supporting fair trade in a citizens’ charter, a coordinating steering group, businesses and catering establishments that offer Fair Trade products, the educational work of civil society and the reporting of local media on activities surrounding fair trade. Most of those participating work on a voluntary basis.
In Lübeck, many efforts have also been made to establish a link between climate protection and fair trade. The climate protection team of the Environmental, Nature and Consumer Protection department participates in the steering group of the Fair Trade city of Lübeck.
In 2030, our guests will experience Lübeck and Travemünde as two climate-friendly travel destinations, each with its own profile: Lübeck is the culture city and Travemünde the seaside resort on the Baltic Sea. The quality of life in Lübeck and Travemünde is equally high in both towns. We treat each other and our natural resources with respect. (Tourism Development Concept Lübeck and Travemünde 2030).
