Let there be light...
Lübeck’s lights radiate warmth in everyone’s hearts. We really go to town on decking out our favourite places. Christmas lights everywhere: trees, houses, bridges, the ships berthed at the Museum Harbour and of course the metre-high pine tree from Kotka, a gift that is supplied every year by ship from Lübeck’s Finnish partner town. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our many partners for implementing this wonderful twinning tradition. Pine tree garlands are hung high over the streets of the Old Town decorated with oversized Christmas tree figures such as locomotives, angels and gnomes.
When the “Christmas City of the North” shines in its full glory, the people of Lübeck welcome their magically gleaming home town every year before the first day of Advent with a family worship on 25 November 2024, 4.30 pm at Holsten Gate.
